Heritage Malta

Heritage Malta

https://heritagemalta.mt

Malta’s incredibly rich and multi-variegated historical past is mirrored in the diversity of its underwater heritage. A subaquatic museum waiting to be discovered. Systematic undersea archaeological surveys off the coast of the Maltese Islands have revealed a multitude of underwater archaeological sites. These range from a 2,700 year-old Phoenician Shipwreck, Roman and Early Modern Shipwrecks to dozens of aircraft crash sites, submarines, and battleships from the First and Second World Wars. This underwater cultural heritage legacy has made Malta the curator for a uniquely well-preserved cultural resource that is global and belongs to all humankind. The recognition of responsibility towards properly managing and protecting Malta’s underwater cultural heritage resulted in the decision to create the Underwater Cultural Heritage Unit (UCHU) within Heritage Malta, the national agency for cultural heritage, conservations and museums. The main objectives of the UCHU are the identification and documentation of sites, site valorisation and protection, as well as public access management and public outreach. The UCHU aims to continue opening underwater sites for public access, whilst ensuring that the authenticity and integrity of Malta’s UCH is protected, in keeping with the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage.

IANTD

IANTD (International Association of Nitrox & Technical Divers)

We has been at the cutting edge of diver training since 1985. From the first nitrox course in the world to our Tek Lite programs which allow for reduced narcosis in the entry-level tech depth range, through to CCR Cave and Expedition Trimix, we’ve been setting the standard since the very beginning. We offer a complete range of training courses from Open Water Diver through to Expedition Trimix using Open Circuit, Closed Circuit & Semi-Closed Circuit equipment and a full range of cave diver training programs. Our instructor trainers and instructors represent some of the very best technical divers and educators in the USA and all over the world.

All our programs, from entry level upwards, equip a diver with the skills and knowledge to become a safe, responsible, self-sufficient diver, in depth survival skills mentally and physically. It’s a philosophy reflected in our Open Water Nitrox Diver course – why not start with the safety benefits of Nitrox from your very first dive? – and continues throughout all our training programs. In 1985, we released the world’s first enriched air diver certification – 10 years before other agencies followed suit. Since then, we’ve stayed at the very forefront of diver education, leading the way so that others may follow.
